MAV Chemical's Commitment:
from data to measurable sustainability
Decarbonization and
Energy Independence
Experts in lubricant science: innovation and quality for exceptional performance
Renewable Energy: Results and Impact
The consolidated metrics from our latest Management Review highlight the structural progress achieved:
- Increase in Renewable Energy Generation: The output of our photovoltaic system increased by 31.4% year on year, reaching full design efficiency.
- Operational Energy Independence: The site’s energy independence rate reached 42.5%. Nearly half of the energy consumed by the entire industrial process is generated directly from solar irradiation at our facility.
- Reduction in External Grid Consumption: By optimizing operating shifts and the charging of our lithium-ion logistics vehicles, we increased self-consumption by 13.8%, reducing our dependence on the national electricity grid by 13.5%.
From a climate impact perspective, this decentralized energy architecture enabled us to directly avoid the emission of 21.3 tonnes of CO2 in a single year, providing tangible support for the decarbonization of the supply chain.

Circular Economy and Waste Prevention
The most significant circular-economy improvements have involved our research and production processes. By redesigning plant cleaning and washing methods, using process raw materials to replace conventional cleaning solvents, and optimizing production batch planning, we achieved:
- A 31.5% reduction in total company waste generation.
- A significant 47.48% reduction in hazardous chemical waste (spent absorbents and filter materials).
Today, the total amount of waste generated represents just 0.53% of our industrial production, confirming the high level of efficiency and optimization achieved across our internal processes.
Green Chemistry: The MAV Bio Line, Ecolabel Certifications and OECD 301 B Standard
Our Research & Development laboratory works to move beyond the paradigm of exclusively fossil-based fluids. The development of the MAV Bio range represents our contribution to the evolution of lubricant chemistry: high-performance formulations for critical sectors (such as railway infrastructure and electric traction) based on synthetic components derived from renewable sources.
To ensure maximum transparency, we do not rely on self-declared labels to substantiate environmental benefits. We submit our products to rigorous validation by independent third-party laboratories, and our range includes EU Ecolabel-certified products (licence number IT/027/005), the European Union’s official environmental label of excellence.
In addition, our flagship formulations are classified as readily biodegradable according to the international OECD 301 B standard (CO2 Evolution Test). This stringent analytical protocol assesses the ability of the formulation to be rapidly broken down by naturally occurring microorganisms, minimizing environmental persistence in the event of accidental release into the ecosystem.
Certified Management Systems
The reliability of our industrial and environmental processes is monitored and verified annually by accredited international certification bodies. We operate in compliance with the following standards:
ISO 9001 Certification
To ensure the excellence of our Quality Management System, from the R&D laboratory through to distribution logistics.
ISO 14001 Certification
As evidence of our rigorous Environmental Management System, which requires continuous monitoring of environmental impacts and ongoing improvement of the site’s environmental performance.
